At least I get to go out on a cool number. A long-time poster to this list will be taking over from me - Jeff Jordan. His official e-mail address is jeffjo@erols.com. I'll be working with Jeff for a short while, to get him up to speed on all the weird things that go on between this list, WotC and the NetReps. I'm sure he'll have loads of ideas for improving the process. I'm going to pass him all the information I have on the post, and he'll start with Digest number 279. As for me, I'm going on to other things, as yet unknown. It'll involve more work on future card sets, and possibly even more interesting stuff. I'm also planning on attending a few more major events around the world, so if you see me at an event, come up and say "hi". So, a fond farewell from me (although I'm sure I'll still be around on the list, and will chip in now and then), and a big welcome to Jeff. Paul Barclay SHORT ANSWERS: ======================================================================= ** Animate Dead _will_ be fixed. ** Harmonic Convergence only affects enchantments that are in play, not enchantment cards in the graveyard or any other zone. LONG ANSWERS: ======================================================================= [Jacek Gadomski, asking two questions] >1. In my turn I've tapped out all my lands to make Chimeric Idol a creature. >Then lets go to my opponent turn. Now I have all lands tapped out. Am I >allowed to convert CI again choosing 0 lands to tap? Yes. You don't tap the lands until the Idol's ability resolves. >2. This one is really confusing me :-). Let say I have in play Seal of Fire >and three untapped Lands. My opponent has Glittering Lion and Alabaster Wall >in play. So first I pay 3 mana to get off prevention from Lion. Then I >sacriface Seal of Fire targeting Lion. Is it legal action to tap Alabaster >Wall targetting Lion to prevent one damage from Seal? Yes, it's legal. ----- [Costas Pagomenakis, asking about Protection] >So, am I correct to say that a 2/2 creature with protection from >black will remain a 2/2 creature even if "Ascendant Evincar" is in play? No, you're not correct. The creature will be 1/1 if it's not black and 3/3 if it is black. Protection only prevents the creature from being Damaged, Enchanted, Blocked and Targeted. It doesn't stop other effects from affecting it. For example, a Black Knight will be destroyed by a Wrath of God. ----- [Ray Guimond, asking about Shield Dancer] ><2W>: The next time target attacking creature would deal combat damage to >Shield Dancer this turn, that creature deals that damage to itself instead. > >say I use it to block say a craw giant (6/4 trample) and i use the ability, >does the trample damage get through? Yes. The Trample damage was never assigned to the Shield Dancer, so the Dancer's ability can't redirect it to the Wurm. The Wurm will deal 3 damage to itself and 3 damage to you. ----- [David Zhou, asking about Misdirection] >What happen when i cast a something and then my opp. tried counter it with >a couterspell but then i cast misdirection to make the counterspell counter >the misdirection. >can i do that? Yes, you can. Misdirection is a very tricky card to play correctly. The important point is that the Counterspell cannot target itself, but it can target any other spell on the Stack, including the Misdirection (as it is still resolving). ----- [Stefan Tisu, asking about Task Mage Assembly] > Does the task mage assembly used by my opp on my mossdog give it a > +1/+1 ? Yes, it will, and it doesn't matter who controls the Task Mage Assembly. If a player plays an activated ability of a permanent, that player controls that ability.
