I'll help out for the first few weeks until everyone is either up to speed, or happy with the new changes (as appropriate). SHORT ANSWERS: ======================================================================= ** Warrior's Honour does generate a CE. However, it only applies to the set of creatures that are in play under your control when it resolves. It's quite strange that people can't see this for things that give bonuses, but have no problem seeing it for cards that give penalties: Play Massacre, then play a 2/2 creature. It stays in play as a 2/2 creature. ** Noxious and Barbed Fields both cause the land they enchant to deal damage. This damage is normally colourless. ** I'm not even touching any CE calculation that has 27 distinct steps in it. If it ever comes up during play, I'll buy you a beer the next time I see you. LONG ANSWERS: ======================================================================= [Jacek Malinowski, asking about Laccoliths] >If Laccolith creature is blocked 'normally' by creature and also by Fog >Patch and Trap Runner ability, will its ability trigger 3 times and it could >deal damage possibly to different 3 creatures? No. It only triggers when the creature becomes blocked. This is only the first time - the second time, it is not becoming blocked, because it was already blocked. >And what is exact timing for using Fog Patch and Trap Runner ability - you >should use them during declare blockers step, but: >* after blockers are declared >* before they are declared The only time you can do things in the Declare Blockers step is after blockers have been declared (that's the first thing that happens in that step). ----- [Jacek Cadomski, with "Armageddon _you_"] >I have on the table Jolrael, Empress of Beasts and my opponent has Mageta >the Lion. Ofcourse we have couple of other creatures in play ;-). My >opponent activates Mageta's ability. In response I activate Jolrael ability >targeting _his_ lands. So taking LIFO rule for tha stack it will come as >follows: > >1. All opponent's lands becomes creatures. >2. Mageta destroys all creatures _including_ animated lands. Right (Well, you target him, not his lands. >Additionaly I have Pattern of Rebirth enchanted one of my creatures. How the >stack looks like, and how exactly resolves? Well, the Pattern's triggered ability will be put onto the Stack after all the other creatures are destroyed. ----- [Thomas Butler, asking about Engineered Plague] > Is it possible to respond to an Engineered plague coming into play by >disenchanting it before its effect starts to apply? No, you can't do this. Once the Plague resolves, its effect will apply before you have a chance to Disenchant it. ----- [Ed Phillips, asking about animating lands] >If you animate a land that's been in your control since the beginning of >your turn, and it is untapped, you can attack with it, right? That's correct. It can attack as long as you have controlled it continuously since the beginning of this turn. ----- [Ed Phillips, asking about Diplomatic Escort] >Can DE's ability be used to stop Rebel/Merc tutoring? No. These abilities aren't targeted. Even if they were targeted, they don't target creatures. ----- [Arista, asking about Protection and targeting] >Hi, I was playing a match today, and I have these doubts: >* My opponent had a propaganda, i had a mother of runes and an avatar of >will, with the mother of runes i give protection from blue to the avatar so, >should i have to pay 2 because of the attack or because the propaganda is >blue and my creature has protection from that color it isn't affected? You still have to pay the {2}. Look at the definition for Protection in the rulebook - it says nothing about not being affected by blue cards. What it does say is that the creature can't be the target of spells or abilities from a blue source, can't be blocked by blue creatures, can't be enchanted by blue enchantments and all damage from blue sources it would receive is prevented. >* My opponent had stolen a rootwater hunter, i dont remember with which >card, the point is i try to use a mystic veil on the creature so that it >cant be target of spells or abilities, and the enchant creature should die. >he tells me it doesnt die, is that right? That's right. "Can't be the target of spells and abilities" means just that. An Enchant Creature that's in play isn't a spell or an ability (and it also doesn't target anything), so it stays on the creature just fine. ----- [Ernie Miller, asking about Chimeric Idol] >If on the turn that Chimeric Idol comes into play, it is turned into a >creature, does the Chimeric Idol Creature have summoning sickness? Yes, of course - it just came into play ignore whether it was a creature since the beginning of the turn or not - just look to see whether the card has been in play for that long or not. ----- [Ed Phillips, asking about Protection] >My opponent has a Stinging Barrier in play. >I have a Nightwind Glider and a Distorting Lens. >My opponent activates SB, targeting NG. >I respond by activating DL to turn SB black. >What happens? The ability of the Barrier is countered on resolution, as it's (now) from a Black source. >Where is this covered in the rules? In the latest Rules Team Rulings post. ----- [Ed Phillips, asking about Hecatomb] >Can I play Hecatomb (with no intention of sac-ing any creatures), then >while it's CIP ability is still on the stack, activate it multiple times >to ping my opponent or her critters? Yes, you can. ----- [Tod Tinlin, asking about Charisma] >If I have a Masticore enchanted with Charisma in play, and I do a point of >damage to my opponent's Worship, which is a creature due to my opponent's >Opalescense (sp), I gain control of the Worship. However, what happens if I >disenchant the Opalescense at a later point in the match. You keep control of the Worship, as Charisma doesn't care whether the card is still a creature or not at that point. ----- [Ed Phillips, asking about Blood Hound] >Can you remove Blood Hound's abilities (with something like Humble) and >then keep the +1/+1 counters until the next turn? Yes. Remember that Blood Hound is one of the easiest creatures in the game to kill, though.
