I recommend not wasting hours talking about problems that probably don't even exist. SHORT ANSWERS: ======================================================================= ** The condition "If you control a Swamp" is fulfilled if you control one or more lands with land type "Swamp", because you can point to a Swamp and say "I control a Swamp". ** If a card says "remove a depletion counter", then you can only remove one counter, as you still point to a counter and say "I'll remove this counter". ** Duplicity reads (in part) "When you lose control of Duplicity, put all cards removed from the game with Duplicity into their owners graveyards." - if someone steals it, then the cards go to your graveyard. ** Coffin Queen's ability does not produce a duration effect. Instead, it produces a delayed triggered ability, which triggers any time the Queen is out of play, and any time that the Queen becomes untapped. If the Queen leaves play before its ability resolves, the creature will come into play, the ability will trigger, and it will be removed from the game. If the Queen untaps before its ability resolves, nothing will happen to the creature until the next time that the Queen untaps (or the Queen leaves play). ** Permanents do not exist anywhere other than the In-Play zone. They do not exist in Phaseland. ** Making a creature into an Artifact Creature (with, for example, Ashnod's Transmogrant) doesn't affect its colour at all. ** Coloured Artifacts will not be printed. ** If Flicker could target a token, the token would leave play and return to play during the resolution of Flicker - it would not "evaporate", as that is due to a State-Based Effect. This is why Flicker says "target non-token creature" (well, actually, it's not - the people who wrote Flicker thought that it could be used to remove tokens permanently, and didn't want to allow it to do that). ** A Taiga counts as a Forest and a Mountain, so Rofellos counts it as a Forest, and you can sacrifice it to a Lithophage. LONG ANSWERS: ======================================================================= [Karl Kovaciny, asking about the mighty Heart Wolf] >I'd like to ask a favor of the DCI. I loved 6th >edition errata that made cards simpler and better at >the same time (examples: Castle, Blight). They also >made Flying Carpet better by taking away its drawback >of "When that creature leaves play this turn, bury >Flying Carpet." Would the DCI be kind enough to give >these cards the same errata? > >Runesword >Kjeldoran Elite Guard >Kjeldoran Guard >Phantasmal Mount >Heart Wolf >Acidic Dagger If they were reprinted in Classic or 7th Edition, then this would probably have happened. However, I don't think that it will happen. I'll ask, of course. ----- [Mat Brown, asking stuff] >> ** Raging River was printed as an Enchantment, not an Enchant World. > >I see that in the latest Oracle that it is back to being an Enchantment, but >wasn't there an RTR or a Bethmo Says since then that said that was an error >and that it is still supposed to be an Enchant World? No. It was printed in Alpha, and Enchant Worlds did not appear until Legends. >Being the NetRep, doesn't what you make up off the top of your head >automatically become official? Only if other people agree, and only if I'm right. ----- [Johan Sonck, asking about Overlaid Terrain] >Is the ability granted by Overlaid Terrain an added ability, or does >it override my lands' existing abilities? For example, can I still >tap a Forest for just G, instead of two mana of any color? Yes, that's correct. ----- [Mat Brown, asking about Starter 2000] >I would like to confirm that Starter 2 will become legal for DCI tournaments >June 1. No such announcement has been made. It is likely that a version of Starter will become tournament legal at some point in the future, but this will not happen on June 1st. At the time 7th Edition comes out is the most likely time. ----- [Charles Bienvenue, asking some questions] >1 - Can i cast Death pit offering without creature in my control ? Yes, of course. >2 - If my opponent do a Jester Mask or a Word of command during my turn >can i cast any type of card in fast effect before the effect of those >card (Jester Mask or Word of command) resolve ? Yes, of course. >3 - I have a Night Soil in play and in cast a wrath of god... my >opponent have Shivan Phoenix... can i remove from the game the phoenix >with my night soil before their come in his hand ? Yes, of course (assuming there is another creature card in the graveyard). >4 - I use a Grindstone on my opponent... My opponent have one serra >avatar and he say because of the serra avatar i can't never get rid of >his deck to win the game .... is that true ? Not entirely. If there are only White cards in the library, the end result will be that the only card in his library is the Serra Avatar. If there are non-white cards, the effect of Grindstone will end at some point. >5 - The creature put into play with recurring nightmare suffer of >summon sickness or not ? Yes, of course. >6 - Ascendant Evincar effect the PofBlack yes or no ??? Yes, of course (if you're asking whether its ability affects creatures with Protection from Black - your question is very unclear). >7 - (the last one) I have a three creatures attack one shocker , one >creature enchant with sigil of sleep and one creature also enchant with >sigil of sleep ... can i choose to do the effect of the sigil before >the effect of the shocker ??? Yes, of course. You control all the abilities, so you get to choose their order. ----- [Mat Brown, talking about Phaseland] >There are only six that are clearly defined by the Comprehensive Rules as >they stand. (See 217.1) The Comprehensive Rules tell us very little more >about the Ante Zone than it does about the Phased Out Zone. You can number >them in whatever order you like, but the fact remains that the Comprehensive >Rules are built on a six zone system, and so any discussion about any >additional zone has to take into account that the Comprehensive Rules do not >currently take additional zones into account. This argument is pretty terrible - there's no such thing as a "six zone system" or a "seven zone system". There is only the Rules. The simple fact is that the change to Classic Edition has not changed _anything_ about the Phased Out or the Ante zones. Don't waste your time arguing this point. The bottom line remains the same - permanents exist only when in play. ----- [Michael Schweikert, asking about local enchantments] >If a card such as "Blasterderm" states that it can't be the target of spells >or abilities could you still place an enchantment on it such as "Rancor"? No. This is a spell, which must target the creature. After the Rancor comes into play, it stops targeting the creature. ----- [Talon, asking about Broken Fall] > scenerio: the controller of broken fall triggers the card by >targeting a creature and returning it to his/her hand. The opponent >interrupts this effect with a disenchant (AFTER THE CONTROLLER >HAS TRIGGERED THE BROKEN FALL EFFECT)...now can the controller of >the broken fall trigger this cards effect again to effectively >interrupt the disenchant??? Where you say "triggers", you actually mean "activates" - Broken Fall's ability is an activated ability (because it has a colon ":"). Where you say "effect", you actually mean "ability" - an effect is something that happens when an ability resolves. Where you say "interrupt" you actually mean "respond to". The answer is that the opponent cannot even play the Disenchant on the Broken Fall, as it is no longer in play. ----- [Mike Bazaluk, asking about costs] >If cast Raze where i have to I sacrifice a land at time of play is it okay >to to cast a spell like Pegasus Stampede and let the original sacrifice I >made pay for Raze will allow the pegasus stampede for nothing ! No, of course no. You can't fulfil two costs with one resource. If you have a pound, you can't buy a copy of the Sunday Times, and then say "I've already spent a pound, so I don't have to pay anything for the National Lottery Instant" ----- [Alex, asking about Diplomatic Immunity] >If you cast diplomatic immunity on a creature which has an enchantment >on it already does this enchanted stay or is it removed? The enchantment will stay on, as it's an Enchantment, not a spell or ability, and it's not targeting the creature, it's just "enchanting" it. >I assume that you can't enchant it when diplomatic imm. is already on a >creature. That's correct.
