Most people can't read that sort of stuff. SHORT ANSWERS: ======================================================================= ** Destruction is more than just lethal damage. It includes cards which say "destroy X", too (a Masticore can regenerate from a Disenchant). ** If you Soul Sculpt a creature, it removes its creature type until it becomes unsculpted. ** If you play a Conspiracy, it only changes creatures' types. It doesn't remove their abilities or alter their power/toughness. ** "Sacrifice a wibble" means that you can sacrifice anything with name or creature type of "wibble". The same applies to "search for", or anything else (obviously, some cards specify "named", or "creature type") ** "Thus sayeth the NetRep" is still a valid reason for a ruling. ** Tetravus's wording is correct. Yes, it breaks the rules somewhat, but it has to in order to work as intended. ** Tetravus can sacrifice Tetravites controlled by your opponent because it specifically says that it can. ** Tetravus will make all Tetravites unable to be enchanted whenever its ability resolves. ** Tetravus does not need errata. ** Tetravus will not be getting any errata. ** Tetravus may get a minor change to say "those Tetravites", rather than "Tetravites". ** Tetravus: It's not really possible to get an enchantment onto a Tetravite (barring weird circumstances), but if you could, the enchantment would be put into the graveyard. ** Tetravus is not abusable. It has Power and Toughness. ** Tetravus is not in my spellchecker. ** Neither is "spellchecker" LONG ANSWERS: ======================================================================= [Mat Brown, asking about Eradicate and Monkeys] >The first is Eradicate and any animation on a Basic Land. He doesn't believe >that it will remove all the other lands with the same name from the game. >Please confirm that this works. It will remove all from the library, hand and graveyard. It will not remove any from the In-Play zone, any that are Phased out, or any that are already removed from the game. It does this because it looks for all cards with the same name as the targeted creature. >Also, Money Cage and multiple creatures. One of the local players has a >Sneak Attack deck with Greater Good. I told him about Monkey Cage and he is >going to put that into his deck. With those and a Shivan Phoenix, for each R >he pays, he gets 6 2/2 Ape tokens. By sacrificing the Phoenix to get it back >into his hand, he can do that as many times as he has mana to pay for before >letting any of it resolve, thereby getting 6 Apes for each R. That's correct, as long as he does it in the correct order. The difference between Monkey Cage and Second Chance is the word "to" on Second Chance. "To" means that you have to sacrifice the Second Chance in order to get the extra turn - one turn is the most you can get. Monkey Cage uses "and", so this doesn't apply - you'll get the monkeys even if the Cage has already gone to the graveyard. ----- [Hanno, asking about translation differences on Lifeline] >Why is it printed on the German card but not on the English version? (It makes >no difference in play, but... does Wizards think German players need to have it >printed to understand it? ;) Possibly it was hard to translate into German without changing the wording. Possibly the guy writing the English version got it wrong. Look at other "creature to graveyard" stuff. ----- [Mat Brown, asking about "half" and graveyards] >> Well, to put it slightly bluntly, he's wrong. If half of his deck is >> mana, then half of his deck is not mana, so there should be equal piles >> of spells and mana. > >Shouldn't that be "equal piles of spells and land"? No. I generally count anything that produces mana and nothing else as "mana" (As long as I've got enough lands to play the other "mana"). >> The order of the graveyard is not important (I didn't say anything about >> the order that spells go to the graveyard). It means that if your >> graveyard is knocked onto the floor, you don't have to worry about >> putting it in the right order (and, if there are confusing graveyard- >> interaction stuff going on, you can make things clearer if you need to). >> No cards will be printed that look for a certain order in the graveyard. > >So I could knock my graveyard on the floor, and pick it back up putting my >Nether Shadows on the bottom and whatever I want my Volrath's Shapeshifter >to be on the top? If you're playing Volrath's Shapeshifter, the above doesn't apply. It was specifically responding to a question about Standard, UBC and MBC. In any environment involving the set Weatherlight or any previous sets, including 5th Edition, then graveyard order matters completely. It basically means that you don't get penalties for messing up your graveyard order in a Standard tournament. >Yes, if we back up to the post that the post you were responding to was >responding to, it says "Urza's Saga onwards." So does that mean there are >different zone rules for different card sets? Is that a good idea? Doesn't >that make the rules situational rather than comprehensive? It's not a rule as such, but it's a fact. There's no point in enforcing graveyard order in tournaments that don't need it.
