The colour of a card is determined by the coloured mana symbols in its mana cost, not what colour mana it can produce. (This is in the Comprehensive Rulebook) ** If there's a Hall of Gemstone in play, once you choose a colour, all your lands will produce mana of that colour, even if they would normally produce more than one colour. ** Yes, there was a year 0 AD. Technically, it had Christmas Day, and 5 other days in it. Year 0 BC had 359 days in it. (Think about it) LONG ANSWERS: ======================================================================= [Johan Sonck, asking about illegal targets] >Yesterday during a game, my opponent tried to use Dregs of Sorrow on >3 creatures of mine while I had Cowardice in play. Because of the >Cowardice, all my creatures came to my hand before Dregs of Sorrow >could resolve, effectively countering it (because all its targets >had become invalid at resolution). My opponent argued that he still >got to draw cards because only the first part of Dregs of Sorrows >ability had fizzled (yes, we still call it fizzled). He can't, because the spell was countered (I call it countered, though) because all its targets were no longer legal ----- [Jeff Jordan, being corrected on a correction] >I mis-remembered a rule about dependency loops in my last response. >The actual ruling if there is a one-way dependency is that the dependent >effect ignores its timestamp and is applied just after a later effect >it depends on. (This seems counter to the actual text of the rule, >which is slightly ambiguous to begin with, but it makes more sense.) Um, actually, you were right first time. The independent effect moves: 418.5c Whenever one effect depends on another, the independent one is applied first. If several dependent effects form a loop, or if none depends on another, they're applied in "timestamp order." (See Glossary.) ----- [Charles Bienvenue, asking about Crown of the Ages] >My friend is sure with this card he can pick up our enchantement >creature and put on his creature... > >example : My friend took me my blessing on my serra angel and (my >friend deck is White/Blue) he put the blessing on is Mahamoti Djinn and >he attack me with the Djinn and he boost the Djinn with the blessing.I >siad its impossible because I'm am the blessing controlle and he's is >not belive me. You're both half right. He _can_ move the Blessing on to his creature. However, this doesn't change the fact that you control the Blessing, so your opponent can't use its ability. ----- [Luischo, asking about the Imaginary Pet] >Text(US+errata): 4/4. ; At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have a >card in hand, return ~this~ to owner's hand. [Oracle 99/05/01] >If this is in an graveyard, return to my hand during upkeep? No. It's not in play, so its ability cannot work. ----- [Jeff Jordan, making a small slip] >Technically, part of announcing the City of Brass ability is choosing >a color of mana to produce. Nitpick: The choice is made on resolution, not announcement. ----- [Ole, asking about Plague Dogs] >(When the Plague Dogs go to the >graveyard from play, all creatures get -1/-1 until end of turn.) > >OK, now for the question. Will the triggered ability also kill >any Toughness 1 creatures that come into play after the >Plague Dogs' ability resolved? No. It gives -1/-1 to all creatures that are in play when it resolves, so it will not affect creatures that appear later in the turn. >At that time I must have been tired or confused, because >I let him do something that I know is not legal. He sacrificed >one of his creatures to put 3 1/1 creatures into play. Of course >he could do that, but they should have died as soon as the >Plague Dogs' ability resolved. Correct. ----- [Jeremy, asking about Repercussion] >I have Pious Warrior in play, whose special ability is that if it is dealt combat >damage, I gain that much life. > >OK, say he attacks with a 2/2 creature and I block with PW. Since the 3 >Repercussions are in play, what happens with the damage dealt to PW -- >would I get 3 life (since that is all the damage PW can take) without taking the >damage from the Repercussions, or would this resolve some other way? You gain 2 life, as that's all the damage that is dealt to the Warrior. You also take 6 damage, 2 from the triggered ability of each of the Repercussions. So, that's a net loss of 4 life. Your opponent loses 6 life, of course, so it might be worthwhile doing this, of course.
